Policy Brief

Empowering Farmers for a Just Zero Food Waste Transition

Reducing food loss and waste in primary production requires a systemic, inclusive approach that prioritises farmers’ needs - particularly those of smallholders and marginalised groups.

This Policy Brief from the ZeroW project provides evidence-based recommendations for governments to support sustainable, climate-resilient farming through Climate-Smart Agriculture, digital innovation, and targeted advisory services. It highlights strategies to bridge digital divides, enhance farm efficiency, and ensure equitable access to resources, helping EU Member States meet newly adopted binding FLW reduction targets.
